Collembola is derived from the Greek, which colle (= glue) and embolon (= piston). Naming is based on the presence of ventral tube (kolofor) on the ventral side of the first abdominal segment that produces adhesive (Hopkin 1997). Collembola known as springtails (Tails spring) because it has a branched structure (Furka) in the ventral part of the fourth abdominal segment. At rest Furka folded forward and clamped by dental retinaculum. Retinaculum or tenaculum is embelan shaped claws located on the ventral abdomen third. According to Wallwork (1970) Collembola including mesofauna groups for body size has ranged between 0:25 and 8:00 mm mm. Body color varies, white, black, gray, other colors, and patterned. The body is equipped seta but not winged (Apterygota). Collembola body is divided into three parts, the head, thorax, and abdomen (Figure 2.1). Thorax is divided into three sections, namely protoraks, mesotoraks, and metatoraks. Each thoracic segment is equipped with a pair located at the vertal (Suhardjono et al. 2012). Collembola have four antenna segments with varying length. Sometimes the male antennae are modified as pincers organ. Antenna has setakemosensorik. The tip of the antenna shape varies, serves as olfactory (Greenslade 1996).
